TrendTrack API & MCP: Full Guide to the Developer Access (2026)

TrendTrack API: The Short Version

TrendTrack shipped a public API with native MCP support, and it is the single biggest change to the product since we first published our TrendTrack review. Every signal the platform already tracks - winning ads, scaling Shopify stores, email campaigns, hooks and angles - is now reachable programmatically, refreshed in under 24 hours.

  • Where it starts: the Pro plan. Starter has no API access at all.
  • What you get: 20,000 credits per month on Pro and Business.
  • Rate limits: 20 req/s, 120/min, 1,200/hour, 24,000/day on Pro. Business doubles that to 40 req/s, 250/min, 6,000/hour, 50,000/day.
  • Surfaces: Claude, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Manus, n8n, or a plain REST call.
  • Enterprise: custom API contract for high-volume pulls.

If you evaluated TrendTrack before and walked away because there was no way to automate it, that objection is gone. See where the API sits across the tiers in our TrendTrack pricing breakdown.

What MCP Means Here (And Why It Matters)

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the standard that lets an AI assistant call an external tool directly. In practice it means you stop exporting CSVs and start asking questions in plain language: "show me trending skincare ads", "find brands scaling on Meta this week", "what changed across my tracked brands since yesterday?". The assistant queries TrendTrack and answers with live data.

This is the part most competitors have not matched. Plenty of tools expose a REST endpoint; far fewer ship a maintained MCP connector with OAuth so a non-developer can wire it up. TrendTrack advertises three clicks and no API key for the Claude connector.

The Seven Ways to Connect

TrendTrack does not push one integration over the others - their own documentation says none is more powerful than the rest, they simply suit different people.

  1. Claude: custom MCP connector, OAuth, no API key needed. The 11 tools appear natively in the conversation.
  2. ChatGPT: same MCP, via the custom connector flow. Requires Plus, Team or Enterprise.
  3. Perplexity: added as a custom connector. Paid plan required on the Perplexity side.
  4. Manus: dropped in as a custom MCP by URL or JSON, OAuth handled for you.
  5. Gemini: no connector, so you go direct HTTP with Bearer auth.
  6. n8n: an official template. Paste your API key, wire it to Slack or Sheets, schedule it. No code.
  7. REST API: direct HTTP, Bearer auth, every data point one call away. Build your own client on top.

What the Tools Actually Do

The MCP exposes 11 tools grouped by intent. These are the ones worth knowing about:

  • brief_competitor ask for a full brief on any domain and get back a snapshot, top scaling ads, email cadence, dominant angles and a list of opportunities. This is the one that replaces an afternoon of manual research.
  • scan_ad paste a Meta ad URL, get the hook, creative, landing page, EU reach, lifetime and a scaling verdict.
  • analyze_tracked_brand single-brand deep dive: scaling ads, top hooks, landing page gallery, format split.
  • analyze_shop_emails sending cadence, subject-line patterns and dominant content category for any tracked brand.
  • daily_radar a changelog of what moved across your tracked brands since yesterday: scaling ads, new launches, new landing pages, partnerships.
  • list_tracked_brands all your brand trackers at a glance.
  • check_credits balance, usage this period, limit and reset date. Worth calling before a bulk run.

The remaining tools cover free-text research across the ads, stores, hooks and email datasets. To understand what you are querying, our guide to TrendTrack filters maps the same fields in the UI.

How Credits Work (And What 20,000 Buys You)

API usage draws on a monthly credit pool: 20,000 on both Pro and Business. That pool is separate from the in-app result credits, and it resets monthly rather than rolling over. In practice, a daily daily_radar call across a handful of tracked brands plus ad-hoc briefs will not come close to the ceiling. Where you will feel it is bulk work: exporting a whole niche, or running a scheduled n8n job that scans hundreds of ads a day.

The honest read: if your use case is scheduled automation for one brand or agency client, Pro is fine. If you are building a product on top of the data, you want the Enterprise custom contract rather than trying to stretch 20,000 credits.

Is the API Worth Upgrading to Pro For?

It depends on what you would automate. Two honest scenarios:

Yes, if you run competitor monitoring as a recurring deliverable. Agencies producing weekly competitive briefs get the clearest return: brief_competitor plus daily_radar turn a manual research ritual into a scheduled job that lands in Slack. The $30/month gap between Starter and Pro is recovered on the first brief you do not write by hand.

Not yet, if you are a solo seller doing product research. Browsing, filtering and the free Chrome extension cover that workflow perfectly well, and the API adds a layer of setup you do not need. Start on Starter and upgrade when you catch yourself repeating the same query every morning.

Worth knowing before you choose: Brandsearch includes API credits on every plan, including its entry tier, where TrendTrack gates access behind Pro. If API-on-the-cheap-plan is your deciding factor, that comparison is the one to read.

Verdict on the TrendTrack API

This is a genuine product expansion rather than a checkbox. The MCP connectors are the differentiator - being able to ask Claude for a competitor brief and get live, sub-24h e-commerce data back is a materially different workflow from downloading an export. The gating is the main gripe: locking all API access behind Pro pushes the entry price up for anyone whose only reason to subscribe is automation, and 20,000 credits is generous for monitoring but thin for anything product-shaped.
